Come Meet Our Pets
The Los Alamos Animal Shelter is located at 226 East Road in Los Alamos and the phone number is 505-662-8179. The Shelter hours are 10:00am to 1:00pm, Monday through Sundays.
The Shelter provides care for animals for 10 days and vaccinations before making them available for adoption. Some pets are in foster homes, and information about these animals is available from the shelter. All dogs are given a DHLPP shot when they come into the shelter and cats are checked for feline leukemia and FIV. Any animal that appears to have a medical problem is taken to a local vet for evaluation.
Directions from Santa Fe (west 502):
- Take the Los Alamos exit
- After climbing the hill to Los Alamos, you will pass an airport on your right, then a small subdivision. The animal shelter will then be on your right.
Our Adoption Process
Our organization works closely with the Los Alamos Animal Shelter, and adopting a friend from the shelter is rewarding and easy! The shelter charges $35 to adopt a pet that was neutered or spayed before intake and $60 if the animal was spayed or neutered after it arrived at the shelter. Each animal has a microchip that the adopter can register with Avid for free.
